Discovery Case Study | CIGNA 2022 - 2023

Cigna annually hosts a 6-week exercise challenge every summer. The platform is used by over 30,000 employees and their friends and families for a chance to earn myCigna incentives by participating in the fitness challenge. There is a separate portal for the individuals that administer the challenge every year - it allows insight into metrics, details of participants, communication templates, etc. As some users expressed frustrations with the admin portal during the participant portal user research, the team wanted to tackle the admin portal upgrade following the participant portal enhancement. | Desktop Design

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Administrators expressed pain points in various parts of the portal including:

  • difficulty finding data

  • lack of data filtration/need to process the data themselves

  • inability to perform certain tasks (change administrator, adjust email templates, etc.)

INTENDED SOLUTION

Re-design the portal with better navigation, expanded admin rights and enhanced user friendliness to guide users in completing their task.

UI/UX GOAL

Re-build the admin portal by basing the design changes on constructive feedback from users. There was also a great need for UI/UX input as several points were noted as misleading or inefficient design during the design audit. Noted as a caution point was that admin users were often advanced in age and not the most familiar with technology - thus it was crucial to design the portal somewhat similar to the previous portal to not distress users.
